Hello, Ballet Beauties!
We are officially 6 weeks into our Postnatal Livestream Training Series and ready to take our training to Level 2. Great work and thank you to everyone that has joined us!
The last 6 weeks have been a gentle restarting of fitness with a focus on breath center core restoration and light toning for the legs and arms with one 30-minute workout each week. My recommendation would be to aim to repeat this workout in our Livestream Library 2X/week for a total of 1.5 hours of postnatal training from weeks 6 – 12 after having a baby, or for the first 6 weeks that you are returning to fitness once cleared by your doctor. This is a gentle, restorative approach to postnatal training that makes a great foundation for our more challenging workouts down the road. You don’t have to be freshly postnatal to enjoy this training. It would be a great re-entry point for anyone coming back from a long break, injury or illness looking to take things more slowly.
On Tuesday, June 16, we are launching Part 2 of our Postnatal Livestream Series, with twice weekly 30-minute postnatal workouts. These workouts will continue through the rest of June and July. I’ll be adding in light weights, including ankle weights as we expand the amount of time training along with intensity. We will continue working on core restoration with additions to our legs, booty, and upper body training.
On a personal note, baby Filomena is getting bigger and sleeping for slightly longer stretches each night. I’m still pretty exhausted physically but can feel my strength returning with our postnatal training and feel ready for more challenge, especially with my legs! The core is a work in progress. It takes many months, sometimes more than a year to heal the core and return to strength training so for all of the new moms out there, be patient and loving towards yourself, grab a mat and join me for our training. I am bringing the baby to our workouts because that’s life when you have little ones! So please don’t hesitate to do the same. I encourage you to show up and do as much as you can, you are going to feel great afterwards and hopefully have some fun too!
See you all on Tuesday!
XOXO,
Mary Helen
