Hi Beauties,
Step backstage with us for a one-on-one interview with Ballet Beautiful Master Trainer, Natia Mangan. We’re asking her some of our favorite get-to-know-you questions to learn more about the dancer and face behind some of our Prima Workshops and Subscriber Livestreams.
1. When and How did you start dancing?
It all started when I was six years old in my home country of Georgia. My mother signed me up for ballet because she had dreamed of dancing when she was a child but never had the chance. She was determined to give me that opportunity and I loved it instantly! That initial step into the studio shaped my entire life. I went on to train at the National Ballet Academy of Georgia, which was the foundation for my career in New York and many amazing experiences on tour all around the world.
2. Can you describe a favorite memory of you dancing? Set the stage for us!
I have so many wonderful memories, it’s hard to pick just one. But a very personal and meaningful experience that stands out was the time my parents came to visit and see my husband and me perform together in Riverdance at Wolftrap in Washington, D.C. – one of my favorite venues I’ve ever performed at. They hadn’t had the chance to see me on stage in many years, since I was mostly working outside of Georgia, so it was such a great feeling to dance, knowing they were in the audience. I also have very fond memories of opportunities I’ve had over the years to work directly with a choreographer to create a new piece. Being a part of the development and creative process, rather than just performing existing choreography, is incredibly unique. It forces you to discover new artistic strengths and ultimately leads to a much deeper understanding of yourself as a dancer.

3. What is your favorite ballet and why?
I have so many it’s nearly impossible to choose! From the classical repertoire, I love the second act of Giselle, which to me represents the pinnacle of romantic ballet—the music and choreography work together in such perfect harmony. I might have a slight bias since he is also Georgian, but of course I have a deep appreciation for the works of George Balanchine! And from contemporary works, I love Pina Bausch’s The Rite of Spring.
4. What is the biggest motivation for you to work out when you have an “off” day?
I think my motivation is rooted in my training at ballet academy, which instilled a great sense of discipline in my practice, whether it be dance, fitness, or other aspects of life. Also, I just think of how amazing I’m going to feel after a workout and it’s enough to motivate me to get moving.
5. How do unwind at the end of the day after balancing a full day of training and being a mom?
Reading a good book at the end of a busy day is a perfect way to unwind for me whenever I get a chance. I also love to watch a good movie or series with my husband after the kids have gone to bed!
6. What is your favorite pre- or post- workout snack?
A few healthy favorites include greek yogurt, nuts, dried mangoes, whole wheat crackers, and cheese.
7. What is your guilty pleasure meal?
It would have to be a good pizza, or another doughy cheesy favorite from my country – a national staple of Georgia called khachapuri.
8. What is your favorite music to play when you work out?
I love many genres of music, and I can get into any of them when I work out depending on my mood, from classical to rock to house music!

9. What are your 3 favorite workouts in the Streaming Library?
I have some new favorites that are recent additions to our library:
Barre Booty Toning
Summer Special: Bridge
Supermodel Arabesque Lunge
10. What is your favorite leotard, accessories, or slipper in the Ballet Beautiful store?
Halter style leotards are my favorite, like the Brigitte Halter Leotard. I also always wear the Prima Pro Canvas Slippers, they are very comfortable.
11. What is your favorite Livestream class style to host?
The classic full body Ballet Beautiful workout is a favorite that targets every muscle for a very well rounded workout in the span of an hour.
12. Give me 3 words to describe your training style.
Attentive, encouraging, and friendly.
13. What is the most rewarding part of training with Ballet Beauties?
Seeing positive physical change and the confidence that comes with it is incredibly rewarding. While our workouts are focused on strengthening the body, I also believe they contribute to our overall mental well being as well. And a wonderful bonus are the cherished friendships and bonds I have formed with Ballet Beauties throughout the years.
